Pioneer Club, 1955. They call the cowboy Vegas Vic. He was made by YESCO, installed in 1951. The neon sign originally had a waving arm, with a recording yelling “HOWDY PARDNER” every 15 minutes. In 1966, Lee Marvin and Woody Strode were staying across the street while in town filming The Professionals. The story goes, on a night after drinking, they had enough of Vic’s yammering and shot him with arrows from their rooms. Police were called, arrows were removed, and Vic was silenced.
